Paint and Send a Message Around the Church

This Sunday was another successful and entertaining time with the Junior and Senior youth groups at St. John's Ida. We made pizza together with the beautiful Andrea leading the crew. We consumed the pizza together and stuffed ourselves with raw carrots. And we head off in different directions, Andrea with the seniors and myself with the juniors. I heard that a second coat of Image Blue was put on as well as the primer for the Hot Pepper and that it is looking good. With the juniors, we played a game by trying to send a message around the church from upstairs to downstairs and up the other stairs one word at a time. The worst was 3:45 with missing words in the given phrase and the best came in perfectly at 1:00. But before this, I challenged them with various questions along the lines of if Jesus would be the type to get arrested, push over tables, get people to drink more, hang out with prostitutes and give someone $2 if they asked for $1. If you're catching the spirit of what I am saying, the encouragement is not to get arrested or drunk, but to rethink the person of Jesus, who he was and what he did. He was a revolutionary in his age, and also in ours. He was strong through his weakness. He was powerful by submitting. He loved sinners and despised the proud. Imagine if we, the church, started to live like he did. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Colours

Ida Youth,

Here are your selected colours.

Hot Pepper and Harlequin. To fit the corresponding shade, I think we will go with Hot Pepper, the most popular choice, and Image Blue, one shade darker and on the same level as Hot Pepper. And I don't know what the older folk would think of as having Harlequin in the youth room. Hah!
So, Hot Pepper and Image Blue. I will have the paint cans ready with supplies for Tuesday evening, September the 23rd.

On another note, the prayer packages were well received by the congregation and all the packages were taken. I was thinking of sneaking one of mine in there, but maybe I'll do that this week.

Come and See Sunday

Youth,
I am going to have a few colour swaths ready to show you this coming Sunday. I will also prepare what I am calling 'Prayer Packets' for people in the congregation to take for a week, pray for you and then bring back to me. If you're not OK with this, let me know and I will take you out of the list. See you then,
Michael

Road Trip Nation

At the cafe today, I was speaking with Ella, an Aussie now living in California. She is working with Road Trip Nation. Check out the link and let me know what you think.

Sunday

Sunday was a lot of fun. We ate together, played a few games together, took photos in the graveyard and ended with a game of 'big-disc' throwing in the field up the hill. From my perspective, I would say that these are great kids, respecting boundaries, willing to try new food and wanting to have a lot of fun. I look forward to getting to know them more as we go along.
